TEXTILES
Cosmos is a textile company created by Sarah Unruh - a product designer, maker, and textile collector. The first collection is a series of one-of-a-kind decorative pillows. Each pillow is constructed from antique linens selected for their lustrous hand and classic beauty. The linens are sourced from around the world, then hand-dyed, constructed and sewn in Brooklyn, New York. Many of the linens are over 100 years old and represent some of the finest and most imaginative damask patterns of their time. They include an array of motifs, from Provencal, Egyptian, and Greek, to ornate florals and botanicals.
The high-quality cotton and cotton/linen blends yields a softness that is rarely found today.
We are proud to present the timeless beauty of these impeccable heirloom linens. By re-purposing them, the integrity of the original pieces is preserved and they find a place in the modern home.
The Greek word cosmos means "an orderly, harmonious, universe". It refers not just to outer space, but to all of existence - everything working in systematic harmony. Sarah chose the name because it resonated with her instinct to achieve order and harmony through design.
Our color palette of over a dozen colors is inspired by floral, earthy, and marine tones. The colors have been created to enhance the luster in the weave and accentuate the details in the patterns. Our color palette reflects an impulse towards harmony using subtle huesinspired by nature that we believe can find a place in any modern home.
Each pillow has a dye lot identification label that can be referenced for orders of the same color.
Custom dye-lots can be created on orders over 6 pieces.
